OK, so maybe a few of you do want to see this fight, but one thing is for certain, this is not the fight that most boxing fans want to see. The Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight on paper appears to be a dud in the making. Two defensive minded counter punchers matched up against one another spells BORING.
Hopefully what you see on paper will not be what happens in the ring, and perhaps we may be surprised, but I doubt it. Floyd Mayweather is coming off of a 2 year hiatus, a so called retirement, a retirement that nobody believed was real. Of course after 2 years Floyd makes his return, but he returns to fight a guy much smaller than he is.
The fight that most people would like to see is a bout between little Floyd, and the pound for pound king, Manny Pacquiao. Yes, that’s right team Mayweather, your guy is not the pound for pound king anymore. If little Floyd wants to recapture that dignified distinction, he’ll have to take it back.
Currently the pound for pound king is none other than Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao systematically wiped out the entire legion of Mexican elites. When he was done doing that he aimed his cross hairs at the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya. We all saw what happened when that happened, we saw a legend quit on his stool. Pacquiao then looked across the pond and laid his sights on Ricky Hatton. We all saw what happened in that one too. It was complete and utter destruction that silenced thousands of drum banging, singing Brits from Las Vegas to Liverpool.
Floyd “Money” Mayweather has an undefeated record. He has defeated both De La Hoya and Hatton just like Pacquiao had done. However, he did not win either fight as convincingly as Pacquiao had done.
Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr is the fight that most people want to see. This is the fight that HBO would gobble up, and this is the fight that people would purchase to see. The pound for pound king title would be on the line. Mannny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr, the winner is pound for pound king.
