Michael Vick could never have imagined this. He’s been intercepted by world boxing champion Sugar Shane Mosley.
First, let me say that I do not consider animals as being on the same level as human beings. My many dogs and cats over the years (now featuring felines Mike Tyson, female, and a top cat named Mister Broadway) have taught me that animals are superior to people.
So, somehow through the dog days of summer, I missed Mosley’s interception of the football quarterback’s incredibly stupid dogfighting escapades.
Good guy Shane did not hesitate to tape an antidogfighting commercial for PETA while he was at his Big Bear, California, training camp. (Thanks to Richey S. Jones for passing this good news along.)
The spot’s main theme is that, while boxers choose to fight and can walk away from them, dogs do not have a choice.
Spot on, I say, spot on.
There are boxers who have indulged in dogfighting, some of them big names. In light of Vick going to jail and losing millions of dollars, I doubt those same boxers would be stupid enough to continue their cruelty except in extreme secrecy.
You would have to be a moron to get involved in dogfighting in the first place.
Now don’t get me started on sabong, a favorite “sport” of Manny Pacquiao.
What, pray tell, is “sporting” about fighting cocks?
Maybe Pacquiao can take Mosley’s lead and join the PETA Army.
High marks, please, for Mosley who has just proved—again—that he is the thinking man’s boxer.
In the ruff world of dogfighting, Mosley is biting down.
