A few weeks away and we shall truly know who in fact really is Number1/Numero uno. As much as I love Marquez and his scientific breakdown that he demonstrates, I feel that Mayweather’s speed will be too much for the Magnificent Marquez to deal with. I know that many feel that Mayweather’s speed will not be a problem for Marquez since after all he handled Pacquiao’s blaze of speed quite well. Thing is that against Pacquiao, Marquez looked at times cool as a fan against the Pacquiao flurries because of the attack at will approach of Pacquiao, it’s easier to time speed coming in.
Against Mayweather, I feel that the same opportunities will not be there for Marquez. One must remember that the defensive minded Mayweather fights and wins on mobility, last second adjustments, and most importantly, patience. Mayweather will use his bigger build to try to get Marquez in position to where Mayweather will be able to find Marquez at will. In fact, I feel that this battle can be a slightly bit more competive Mayweather/Gatti bout with Marquez of course having a few more moments than the outgunned late great Arturo Gatti was able to find. For that to happen however, Mayweather must bring out his A game. Question is, if the A game is not there for Floyd after the 2 year layoff, will Floyd then be able to beat the strategic mind of Marquez with anything less than an A game?
This battle will come down to will versus skill. I see Marquez having more will than Mayweather, but I see Mayweather having better skill than Marquez. One mans heart and determination must break through and determine who in fact relly is Number One/Numero uno. To me, I feel that the size, skill, and patience of Mayweather will be what will carry Mayweather to get the nod.So there it is. Floyd Mayweather over Juan Manuel Marquez by UD.
