This all stems from Hall’s relationship with Manny Pacquiao. What maybe unknown to many Pacquiao fans is that the Burlingame, CA based Sydney Hall, he is the man who signed an exclusive contract to be Pacquiao’s sole attorney and agent back in 1998.
HALL WAS CALLING THE SHOTS FOR MANNY
It was Hall’s job to negotiate and represent Pacquiao once he came to the United States. Hall had also worked in the past with Luisito Espinosa and Gerry Penalosa in granting the ex-champions Visas to fight in the United States. However, Rod Nazario elected to keep Pacquiao in the Philippines until 2001. Hall arranged Pacquiao and Nazario their paperwork to fly and live in the United States.

In 2001, Pacquiao and Nazario stayed in San Francisco to find a fight and a promoter. Ex-manager of Luisito Espinosa, Boots Aniel offered Hall a vacant house, which he rented for Manny and Rod to stay in. Also staying living with Pacquiao and Nazario were Ben Delgado, former trainer of Manny, and Marty Elorde, Pacquiao’s manager.
TITLE CHANCE A STROKE OF GOOD LUCK!
When Lehlo Ledwaba’s opponent, Enrique Sanchez, fell out, Hall negotiated with Murad?s matchmaker Samson Lewkowitz to have Manny replace Sanchez. The IBF forced Ledwaba to fight Pacquiao and the match was on for the IBF world title. Lewkowitz then advised Hall to have Murad Muhammad promote Manny for his fight with Ledwaba, since Murad was a co-promoter in the event.
SYDNEY GOT ?TASTE? OF MURAD WITH JONES JR.
Muhammad and Hall had already had a conflict. You see, Hall felt it was Murad who caused friction with him and Roy Jones Jr. Hall forgave Murad and Muhammad flew to San Francisco to meet Manny. There they signed a one-year agreement with M & M Sports. After they signed the contract, Hall cautioned Nazario that although it was Manny’s best interest right now to sign with Murad, he must be careful of Murad and not be too friendly with him, advice Nazario should have followed.
MANNY MAKES GOOD WITH TITLE SHOT
In June of 2001, a huge betting underdog, Manny Pacquiao stopped Lehlo Ledwaba to win the IBF jr. featherweight belt.
