Light welterweight prospect ‘Mighty’ Mark Melligen had a terrific coming out party on the televised undercard of Top Rank’s “Pinoy Power 2″ in Las Vegas when he dealt a slow and calculated beating to Mexico’s Ernesto Zepeda, stopping him in four rounds. Melligen started out boxing cautiously in Round 1, and much like he would have seen from Floyd Mayweather in their sparring sessions earlier this summer, Melligen used precise accuracy in picking Zepeda apart. After two rounds of landing counter pot-shots, Melligen had already started to break Zepeda down. In Round 4 Melligen turned the table and started walking Zepeda down landing brilliant straight left hands and shots to the body. He sliced Zepeda’s eye open and pummeled him along the ropes before sending him to the canvass at what was a violent end. The referee had seen enough and Melligen was awarded a TKO victory at 2:40 of Round 4. With the victory Melligen improved to 16-1 (12 KOs).
