Klitschko and Arreola look to bring drama back to heavyweight scene

I am an open critic of boxing’s heavyweight division. For the most part, it is void of talent and entertainment.

The last memorable heavyweight boxing match was Lennox Lewis’ true grit battle with giant Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko on June 21, 2003 at The Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles.

Since then there have been some interesting moments between the overgrown and largely out of shape fighters in boxing’s “elite” division, but mostly, it has been barren of any true entertainment.

Come Saturday, September 26, once again at The Staples Center, Vitali Klitschko will try to infuse some drama into the division. The number two heavyweight in the world today will due battle with Chris Arreola of Riverside, California.

Most will tell you that Arreola is out-classes by the older, more experience, and better conditioned Kltischko, but Arreola has two rocks at the end of his arms and will make the bout interesting while it lasts.

Though Arreola is the underdog and Klitschko has had two other big fights at The Staples Center, Arreola feels as if he has home court advantage.

“Los Angeles is my hometown. I was born and raised here. Just because Klitschko has fought at STAPLES Center doesn’t mean a thing. He may live here, but he wasn’t born here. When Klitschko steps into the ring on Sept. 26, he’ll know whose hometown it is.”

My prediction, someone is going down in a blaze of action September 26.
