IT’S another hurdle, and another step towards a major fight for ALA Boy Mark Jason Melligen.
Melligen, whose campaign in foreign territory has been quite successful, will face Michael Rosales in the undercard of the Pinoy Power 2 in Las Vegas on Aug. 16 (RP time).
Top Rank matchmaker Bruce Trampler told ALA Promotions that if Melligen puts on another impressive performance, he could be in a huge Top Rank boxing event in November.
Melligen has been training in the Top Rank Gym and in Roger Mayweather’s Gym, where former pound-for-pound No.1 Floyd Mayweather Jr. is training for his upcoming bout with Mexican superstar Juan Manuel Marquez.
Unlike his previous opponents, Rosales has the most remarkable record with 24 wins, three losses and 21 knockouts.
Two of his defeats were against undefeated prospects—youngster Saul Alvarez (27-0-1, 20 KOs) and Mike Alvarado (26-0, 18 KOs).
Aldeguer said Melligen’s training at Mayweather’s Gym has been a huge help in his upcoming fight because he has learned a lot from some of the best in the boxing industry.
“Roger gives him some tips. Mark also adapts and learns a lot by watching Floyd,” said Aldeguer.
