Boxing?s crazy path

If you follow boxing?s crazy path long enough, you can?t help feel betrayed at the manner the felonious lords are tormenting the assets of the once sweet science.

Manny Pacquiao is back from Los Angeles after a hurried takeoff, steadfast in pursuing his claim for recovery of lost income occasioned by contract violations against his former handlers led by Murad Muhammad, who when last seen was giving frantic orders to his legal advisors to come up with solid arguments against the claim of his one time ward from GenSan.

Pacman, as fondly called by his fans, is deep into mapping out his strategy with a battery of lawyers, is convinced he can still gobble up lost revenues from the pay-per-view deal as well as earnings from his TV rights.

Huge problems are hounding our hottest ticket to big time boxing to include resident practitioners of the art similarly victimized by unscrupulous promoters and managers.

Amidst all of these wrangling comes the wily move by the tax hounds of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to collect from Manny the corresponding taxes due from his past mega-buck fights here and abroad.

The surprise maneuver by the “revenuers” couldn?t come at a better time when absconding celebrities are being ticketed for violations of the internal revenue act not to mention the other prime targets such as churches of various denomination.

So another potential headache for the GenSan marvel? You betcha.

What about his minions who earned quite a chunk of dollars from these same fistic transactions like his business manager, trainers, assistant trainers and plain hangers on who abound the Pacquiao gravy train? Will they be included in the charge sheet as well?

Or digressing a bit, how about the case of Luisito Espinosa who remains hopeful he still can hack it despite his pitiful showing in his last two outings?

Who?ll take up the cudgels for the future hall of famer in his quest for recovery of some $150,000 gypped by his promoters in his title defense some eight years back ? a mere pittance compared to the millions being sought by Manny?

Don?t answer that one.
