Team Pacquiao led by lawyer Franklin Gacal is considering Mosley as next Pacquiao opponent if he can move further down to 143 but boxing experts say that it would be dangerous for Mosley to fight Pacquiao at this desired catch weight.
Suddenly Shane Mosley is on Manny Pacquiao’s radar screen again after Miguel Cotto declined to fight the pound-for-pound king at 144 catch weight.
Shane Mosley has previously dared Pacquiao to face him at 144. But yesterday, Pacquiao’s lawyer Franklin Gacal said that they can probably drag him down further to 143.
If Mosley agrees to 143, it would be dangerous for him as he may end up like Oscar de la Hoya who suffered a devastating loss to Pacquiao. Mosley is a natural welterweight and if he goes down to 143 from his weight category limit, he might just feel dehydrated like de la Hoya and this will work against him physically.
Mosley has a 2” height advantage over Manny Pacquiao and is more superior in reach and overall built.
Pacquiao is 30 years old while Mosley is 37. Overall Mosley has a marked advantage with only the age factor working against him.

Manny Pacquiao’s lawyer, Franklin Gacal, yesterday said if Miguel Cotto insists on the catch weight of 145 lb, the Filipino boxing icon might be forced to consider Mosley as his next opponent.
“We will not agree to 145 pounds. And if Cotto insists, we’ll go for Mosley,” said Gacal from Davao City.
Both Pacquiao and Cotto are under Top Rank, and it should have been easier for Arum to seal the deal. But again, the weight issue, Gacal added, is turning out to be a real weighty issue. Manny will be giving up too much if he agrees to fight Cotto at 145. We want him at 143 and if he insists otherwise, then we’ll look at Mosley if Mosley is still available,” said the Filipino lawyer.
