World Boxing welterweight champion Shane Mosley finally gave up on Manny Pacquiao after chasing the pound-for-pound king for several weeks for a mega fight with the pound-for-pound king.
Mosley who earlier offered Pacquiao a 60-40 sharing of the fight purse in favor of he pound-for-pound king, reportedly told his promoter Golden Boy promotions, represented by Richard Schaefer to stop negotiating for the fight.
Mosley must have realized that it would be futile for him to pursue a fight with Pacquiao when almost everything point to a Pacquiao-Cotto match.
Bob Arum, the promoter of Pacquiao, announced earlier that the Pacquiao-Cotto fight is almost a done deal. A copy of the fight contract has been forwarded to Pacquiao by Bob Arum through Michael Koncz, the Canadian adviser of Pacquiao. Arum is awaiting final words from Team Pacquiao.

After several attempts, World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight super champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley has given up on setting a clash with pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao. “Shane’s legacy is intact, and it’s not dependent on a Pacquiao yes or no,” said Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer as quoted by a Los Angeles Times sports blog.
In the meantime, Mosley has given marching order to Richard Schaefer to arrange a fight between him and any of these possible opponents: Paul Williams, Joshua Clottey, Kermit Cintron or Andy Berto.
Schaefer feels confident that Mosley will win on his next assignment which will make him primed for a fight with Pacquiao next year.
