He may not be in Manny Pacquiao’s class–at least not just yet–but rising Filipino featherweight Caesar Amonsot of the ALA Stable, who is ranked RP No. 2 featherweight contender, bounced back to avenge a controversial loss in Jakarta, Indonesia by scoring an impressive TKO win over Syamsul Hidayat last Tuesday evening, April 12 at the RCTI TV Studio in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The power-punching Amonsot, now sporting a 8-1-1 win-loss-draw record with 7 KO’s in 10 fights proved to be too strong and skillful for the totally outclassed Indonesian.
“From the first round until the time of the stoppage, Amonsot dominated the fight and battered the hapless Hidayat who elected to run rather than fight which forced the referee to stop the one-sided contest and award Amonsot with a TKO victory in the 4th of the scheduled 10-round bout,” said a report from the ALA Gym.
Indon referee Eddy Damri, sensing Hidayat was no match against the Tagbilaran-raised Amonsot, stopped the fight.
Previously, Amonsot figured in a draw with ex-IBF Pan Pacific lightweight champ Joey De Ricardo last March 22 in Jakarta.
Amonsot’s only loss came at the hands of Simson Butar Butar last February 15, when the referee stopped the fight prematurely after the Filipino absorbed shots to the face. Early in the fight, Amonsot also decked Butar Butar.
