Looks like boxing great Manny Pacquiao is really out to conquer Hollywood.
Early this year, reports came out that the Pacman, acknowledged as the world?s best pound for pound boxer, had a meeting with actor Sylvester Stallone, in which the latter proposed to do a movie.
The film is supposed to be a biopic.
As a token of goodwill, Stallone, who became popular for his ?Rocky? and ?Rambo? series of movies, was said to have given the Pacman?s two sons, Jimwell and Michael, a pair of boxing gloves, which bore the signature of former world light heavyweight champion Tony Tarver.
This news, however welcome, wasn?t taken by fans as a ?sure thing,? as rumors could fly ? and die – only too quickly as with many things in Hollywood.
Not until Pacquiao himself came out on ?Talk Asia-CNN? to talk about it.
Pacquiao said he is open to such projects, depending on negotiations.
“Depende siguro sa pakikipag-usap,” said the boxer who didn?t disclose if he would be in the starring role.
Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger added more heft to the rumor when she confirmed receiving an offer to be part of the film. Scherzinger said this a few weeks ago in an interview prior to the Pussycat Dolls concert held at SM Mall of Asia Grounds.
?Yeah, I?ve been given the Manny Pacquiao script,? she said.
However, Scherzinger was unsure when the project would start rolling ? if at all.
?We?ll just see what happens.?
Scherzinger said that she felt it would very much be ?a blessing? to land a part in the film as she is a great admirer of the Filipino boxing icon.
?I?m so proud of him?I?ve been following him?and it?s just? awesome?to just see people? fellow Filipinos?a fellow kababayan out there? like Manny?and they just represent?there?s just so much pride [in that],? she said.
If the movie doesn?t push through, Scherzinger said she?d be happy at least, to sing the Philippine National Anthem at Pacquiao?s next match.
Pacquiao has become boxing’s biggest attraction after he won over Oscar dela Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
Outside the ring, Pacquiao is an aspiring singer and actor. He is also a popular endorser for various products including Nike and San Miguel Beer.
