BARRERA TAKING ON UNWORTHY MANDATORY
This Saturday night, World 130 lb. champion Marco Antonio Barrera returns to take on the WBC?s #1 contender Mzonke Fana. Barrera is coming off his biggest win against Erik Morales and he is looking at Fana as a sandwich to snack on as he awaits potential super fights with Morales or Manny Pacquiao. Fana, the South African, he will cash in on some good money in his no-win situation for the championship.

Although Mzonko Fana does deserve a shot a WBC title, he doesn?t poise any serious threat to knockout Barrera. Fana does, however, have very quick hands and a good jab. He moves well in the ring and has tremendous heart, as evidence in his last fight against Filipino Randy Suico. After being dropped twice in successive rounds, Fana would win a Majority Decision.

Marco Antonio Barrera shouldn?t waste his time with Fana. The South African can box well. But he doesn?t take a punch in the same manner, and Barrera will exploit Fana?s weakness (see chin) before the end of six rounds. An aggressive Barrera who goes to the body first, before the head, he will hurt and then finish Fana easily and inside the distance.

Reports in the Philippines state that Marco Antonio Barrera doesn?t feel Manny Pacquiao, the same man that destroyed him back in 2003 deserves a rematch. This is the same Barrera who got a fight with ?Prince Naseem? Hamed after his losing to Erik Morales. Again, this is also the same Barrera who got a fight with Morales after getting stopped by Pacquiao. It seems like Barrera doesn?t want to give the same opportunity to Pacquiao that Morales and Hamed afforded him. Barrera says that if he beats Pacquiao, the fans will say he just finished off Morales? leftovers.

Sounds like he?s scared. Styles make fights and Marco knows that Pacquiao beats Barrera more often then not. Morales didn?t dominate Pacquiao one bit in there fight, and if Barrera thinks Pacquiao, who is only 26, is shot after losing a close Decision, then he is badly mistaken. However, it could just be Barrera doesn?t want to fight Pacquiao next, or even anytime soon. It?s clear Manny wants Morales before taking on Barrera again, and whatever talk Marco is doing when is comes to dollars and cents in a rematch with Pacquiao, all he has to read is, 14,000 seats sold, 350,000 PPV buys and 15.5 million generated; the rematch makes dollars and sense.

I have been receiving email from people giving me to give the other side of the story, Murad Muhammad?s side. Looking at the situation from Murad?s side, why would he want to continue to promote Pacquiao? He?s been called a crook by his trainer and manager and Pacquiao himself has stated he doesn?t want Murad around. Even if Murad ends up being correct in all the allegations being brought against him, it?s clear that the relationship between boxer and promoter has died twice!

Murad states that Freddie Roach and Shelly Finkel are whispering lies to Manny. What lies? That 40% share of the Pay Per View Pacquiao didn?t get, but you did, this to me is quite alarming. And that is one of the main reasons Pacquiao wants away from Mr. Muhammad. Look, if Murad followed the contract Manny signed, then he may be legally right. Legally and morally right, I don?t think the Filipino people care which one it is, the bottom line is they feel Manny Pacquiao is being screwed!
WHAT SIDE IS NAZARIO GOING TO BE ON?
Current business manager Rod Nazario has been very quiet throughout the entire drama in the Pacquiao camp. Nazario and Muhammad have had a good relationship throughout there time together. However, with Pacquiao?s request for a new direction what will Nazario do? Incredibly, he convinced Pacquiao once to stay with Murad, after former manager Marty Elorde tried to get Pacquiao to sign with another promoter. Can he do it again?
WHERE ARE THE RECEIPTS FOR THE PAID TAXES?
The bigger question is how he handled Manny?s Taxes from 2001 until now. There was a company set up in San Francisco that would hold some of Manny?s money to pay for taxes. After the Morales fight, the IRS held a large amount of Pacquiao?s purse because of unpaid taxes from fights before. The question is, if the IRS took money from Pacquiao?s purse against Morales to pay for Manny?s taxes now and in the past, where is the money Nazario held from fights before in the San Francisco account?
