Murad fires back at Pacquiao

Boxing promoter Murad Muhammad called Manny Pacquiao an ?ingrate, backstabber and a coward? but did not explain why the Filipino fighter could not get his supposed 40 percent pay-per-view share from his recent fight against Mexican Erik Morales in Las Vegas.

The Muhammad open letter to mannypacquiao.ph under the name of Rita Sharp of Sharp Enterprises said no American promoter wanted to touch Pacquiao until he did, short of saying he was responsible for the Filipino’s rise in the US.

Muhammad is being hauled to court by Pacquiao’s new management team over violations of the Muhammad Ali Act, which boxing aficionados said was a toothless law that has yet to be strictly implemented for the benefit of boxers.

The Muhammad letter read: ?Our country is in a political upheaval now because of foreigners like you who come into our country and make millions of American dollars, only to turn around and run with the money, criticizing America and its’ citizens all the way to the bank!?

The missive trained its guns on trainer Freddie Roach, whom Muhammad got 10 percent of Pacquiao’s purses and Shelly Finkel who received 25 percent of the $1.75 million guaranteed sum for Pacquiao in the fight.

?The March 19 Pacquiao-Morales bout was totally negotiated by Murad Muhammad of M&M Spots Inc., so what exactly did Shelly Finkel do to receive 25 percent of your $1.75 million purse, because if he did do any negotiating with anyone pertaining to that fight, then he is guilty of tortious interference and Mr. Muhammad should waste no time in bringing him up on charges. How is it Murad Muhammads’ fault that the IRS got wise to Finkel and Roachs’ plan to hide money in yet ?another American corporation? and demanded that you pay $524,000 upfront!?

Muhammad also questioned the $4 million signing bonus Pacquiao was supposed to get by hooking up with Finkel and also touched on Pacquiao’s alleged betrayal of business manager Rod Nazario.

?Our investigation has proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that Rod Nazario has never stolen a dime from you! You sit idly by while Mr. Nazario is accused of stealing $300,000, while in fact, $90,000 of that money is still in an account and the other $200,000 is money that you have borrowed from that account! You sit by and watch an innocent man be accused while you line your pockets with American dollars. Where is your loyalty to your countryman??

The letter also said: ?We have also uncovered the fact that You lied to your past management and Freddie Roach when you told them that you only received $300,000 form the Barrera fight, when indeed you had received $540,000, but wanted to pocket the other $240,000, no doubt for your own selfish purposes.?

?Where is the documentation that shows Murad (sic) ‘stole’ anything from you? According to public record, Murad Muhammad has done nothing but help you in every way possible to advance in your career. Example, for the Pacquiao-Marquez bout, Muhammad was given $1.8 million. Records show that Muhammad paid Bob Arum/Top Rank $900,000 and $900,000 (sic) went to You, so please do the math: $900,000 + $900,000 = $1.8 million! So where is the theft? Where is the documentation showing that Murad Muhammad made one dime off that fight??

Under Section 10 of the Ali Act, the 26-year-old Pacquiao does have a good case in his court battle against Muhammad.
