Armstrong vs. Pacquiao part 2: Setting straight the myths about level playing fields and Santa Claus

Let me start out by saying thank you to all the people that emailed me about my article on the pound for pound rankings. The positive responses beat out the negative responses by about 10 to 1. Thank you so much to my thousands of loyal followers. For it is you that makes my world go round , just knowing that reading my stories makes your face light up like a 5 year old on Christmas morning gives me hope that the world can indeed one day be a better place. And now as I remove my tongue from my cheek I will try to clear up some myths that seem to have penetrated my column.

The first myth that seems to pop up out of nowhere is that I am a Manny Pacquiao hater. If you actually read my columns you will find that there is no other writer that calls Manny the best fighter in the world today , the most exciting fighter in the world today and the most sought after fighter in the world today in every column. I am the one that usually refers to him as the filipino Superman. But somehow I am labeled a Pacman hater. Nothing could be further from the truth. Usually the ones who say that are the ones who are overly sensitive. Try reading a whole article before you comment. If you need me to I’ll type slower so you can understand it easier. And if you decide to send me a comment , remember the word write isn’t spelled r-i-g-h-t. You know who you are.

The second myth is the leveling of the playing field. The truth is there is no such thing. That phrase is a politically correct way of saying I want my man to have an advantage. The great trainers , fighters and promoters all do this. Boxers ask for bigger rings that allow them to get away while punchers ask for a smaller ring so they don’t have to chase their opponent so far. Punchers want Cleto Reyes gloves because they’re known as a puncher’s glove while pure boxers want any glove that may feel like a pillow. This is fact people , deal with it. Walk into any major boxing gym in the world today and ask the head trainer if leveling the playing field actually means getting some sort of edge for their fighter and the reply will be 100% yes. It is their job to make their fighter’s job easier. And if by asking fighters to lose an additional 3 pounds when they know they struggle to lose the original weight isn’t an advantage then I don’t know what is.

Finally , I was actually told that I didn’t know boxing by someone that has never heard of Henry Armstrong. To that person I say quickly name all the weight divisions and five fighters in each. Yeah , I thought so. You can disagree with my opinion but never question my love or knowledge of boxing. Didn’t know who Armstrong was , omg.

So there you have it. Not a Pacman hater. Love me some Manny. But if my favorite boxer or team has a flaw then I will say it. Blind loyality is a double edged sword. It cuts both ways. I love the Raiders and they suck so I say so. Manny should fight these guys at 147 because I honesty don’t think it will make a hell of a lot of difference. I think he easily wins most of them including against Cotto. The one he will have a problem with is Mosley.

Again, thanks to my millions of fans and to the overly sensitive kids out there, “Hey little girl , I just want to look at your doll , I’m not trying to pull its head off”. Thanks for the comments , good and bad , it makes my day. Tag! You’re it!
