Mark Jason Melligen, the pride and current unofficial boxing ambassador of ALA Gym in America, is set to prove his boxing prowess once again as Top Rank?s promising prospect.
After two successful and convincing fights in American soil in a span of nearly two months, battle tested Melligen (14(10KO), 1(KO),0) is scheduled to fight Mexican Fabian Luque (21(12KO),8(7KO),4) on June 20, 2009 in Juarez, Mexico where the main event is between Mexican boxing great Jorge Arce (51(39KO), 5(3KO),1)and Filipino sensation Fernando Lumacad (19(7KO), 1(0KO), 2).
Melligen?s preparation is no heaven as he has been sparring with Argentinian boxer Marcos Rene Maidana, one of the best light welterweight fighters in the world today. In fact, Maidana who has a record of 25 wins with 24 knockouts against only 1 loss will be fighting American Victor Ortiz who also has an impressive record of 24 wins with 19 knockouts and similarly 1 loss and 1 draw on June 27, 2009 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California for the interim WBA World light welterweight title.
?Melligen held his own against Maidana which proves that his boxing skill is comparable if not better with the best in the world. So far they have sparred a total of more than 50 rounds and they were all excellent and tough sparring sessions.? Tony Martin, Melligen?s handler in Las Vegas said.

The future, no doubt, is bright for Melligen. He is almost a mainstay at Mayweather Gym where he has been training since his arrival in America in November of 2008. He has gain quite a good reputation for his training and most of all for his boxing prowess which he has to prove again in almost two weeks time against Luque. It is interesting to note that Luque lost on a 5th round TKO against Ukrainian Dmitriy Salita who fought an 8th round draw with Ramon Montano. But Ramon Montano lost on a unanimous decision against Melligen. So, mathematically, Melligen should waste no time in disposing Luque to cement a bright future for him in the eyes of Top Rank and in the eyes of boxing fans.
