FILIPINO RING icon Manny Pacquiao received so many inspiring calls after he lost to Mexican Erik Morales, but the one that ?knocked? him out came from his own son, Emmanuel Jr.
While talking to his son over the phone, Pacquiao almost cried when his son told him that he wanted to give Morales a left straight for inflicting him a cut on his right eyebrow.
“Gusto nga niyang suntukin si Morales. Ile-left straight niya daw si Morales,” added Pacquiao, smiling. “Sinabi rin niya sa akin na pinagdasal niya ako para manalo. Pero nalungkot siya nung makita niyang duguan na yung mata ko. Natakot siya.”
After engaging Morales in a bloody encounter before a jampacked MGM Grand Garden Arena, Pacquiao now has an even stronger resolve not to encourage his two young boys to get involve in boxing.
“Mahirap talaga kasi ang boxing. Mas gusto kong magtapos na lang yung dalawang anak ko sa pag-aaral,” said the 26-year-old General Santos native.
While boxing has made Pacquiao rich and one of the most recognized sports figures nowadays, the man they call “Pac Man” wanted to see his kids grow up to become lawyers someday.
“Nung bata kasi ako, gusto kong maging abogado. Kaya gusto kong makatapos ng pag-aaral ang mga anak ko at di na lang ma-involve sa boksing,” he added.
With the earnings he got from his fight with Morales, worth US$1.750 million (estimated R96 million), he plans to safe-keep it first in the bank and eventually engage in business soon.
Pacquiao knew that boxing is a sport that is prone to accidents, which is also one reason why he is securing his family?s future.
“Nagse-save na ako para sa pamilya at mga anak ko,” stressed the hard-hitting, No Fear endorser.
