Floyd Mayweather is 10 months older than Manny Pacquiao but they?re almost at the same place in their glorious ring careers.
Both of them should be looking not to the nearest exit but at least to the end game, to planning as best they can a series of final bouts before they truly hang up the gloves.
Now here comes my usual Sandy Koufax type curveball.
I throw this challenge out to Manny and to Pretty Boy.
Not only must they fight each other next year (they will as sure as death and taxes) but they must both try to ?run the table? and leave boxing in a blaze of glory.
Let?s get past all the snipping about catch weights and other esoterica. The way I see it we have a Fantastic Five operating in the 140-147 pound regions and, besides how their mega bout comes out, wouldn?t you love see PBF and Pacman also fight Sugar Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and the currently suspended but back next January Antonio Margarito?
Here?s my Fantasy Five Fighter Tournament with predicted results:
Mayweather W 12 Juan Manuel Marquez (July 18)
Pacquiao W 12 Miguel Cotto (October)
Mayweather W 12 Sugar Shane Mosley (very close verdict, maybe split) (February, 2010)
Pacquiao TKO 10 Antonio Margarito (March 2010)
BOXING?S SUPER BOWL BOUT:
Pacquiao TKO 9 Mayweather (September, 2010)
Could any of us really complain if both Money May and Pacman rode off into the sunset at this point?
