Nacho Man: Beristain is Juan Ma’s slender hope to beat Mayweather

?Man, let me tell you something man, they can say what they want to say about Nacho, but I don’t see none of it. Emanuel Steward was talking that spit about he train his fighters like Nacho train his and that’s why his fighters are getting their ass kicked too. He talkin’ about he train his fighters like Nacho Beristain. See, he was trying to call himself talking about me???Nonstop nonsense from the ever flapping lips of FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.

(That?s ?Pretty Daddy? rambling on two days after Manny Pacquiao demolished his former pupil, Oscar De La Hoya. He spoke to Percy Crawford at Fighthype. Never let it be said Floyd Sr. doesn?t know how to pile on.)

I?m not completely ruling out a large upset by Juan Manuel Marquez over undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.

But that?s only for a single reason and that may be a slender reed for you Juan Ma fans to lean on.

It?s the disparity between the chief cornermen.

Ignacio ?Nacho? Beristain is his Mexican generation?s Angelo Dundee, a walking encyclopedia of boxing and an adaptable cat who can switch his training approach to the style and personality of virtually any fighter.

Beristain?s use of English is language and, although properly lionized by the Latin boxing media, he does not get his just due from the gringos. And that includes me.

Being the top trainer in Mexico, and he is certainly that, is akin to being the top astronaut at NASA, it?s no small thing.

In this regard, his lack of rigidity and versatility, Beristain is on the same high level as Manny Pacquiao?s highly respected guru, Coach Freddie Roach.

I guess it?s only natural there is friction between the two given the closely competitive 24 rounds Juan Ma and Packy have battled through.

Beristain?s many accomplishments are exemplified by the great careers of Humberto Gonzalez, Daniel Zaragoza, the awesome Ricardo ?Finito? Lopez and of course both Juan Ma and brother Rafael.

I know, I know, Beristain couldn?t jockey Oscar De La Hoya to anything but embarrassment against Pacman but you give Willie Shoemaker a horse who belongs at the glue factory you should not expect a Triple Crown race winning ride.

Marquez-Mayweather is a size rematch but Beristain against Uncle Roger Mayweather is a brutal mismatch.

I?m not saying ?Black Mamba? Mayweather is some bum off the street but who else has he trained besides his naturally gifted nephew?

Let?s face it, Pretty Boy Floyd is on autopilot and I could probably throw a towel over my shoulder and train him.

I also don?t see any difference in how Floyd Jr. would box against Pacman or anyone else if he had Floyd Sr., Manny Steward or Joe Sixpack in his corner and in his ear.

Intriguing thought: Wouldn?t it be fun, though, to see how No Joke Coach Roach would work with PBF?
