MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government will open its sports complexes and covered courts for a free viewing of the May 3 bout between people?s champ Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao and Briton Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton.
Mayor Alfredo Lim directed city administrator Jesus Mari Marzan and his chief-of-staff, Ric de Guzman, to facilitate the distribution of tickets to the city?s residents that would enable them to watch the much-awaited fight live via satellite.
Lim said the tickets could be used by residents to gain entry to any of the sports complexes or covered courts in the city?s six districts where the fight would be shown.
He assured that the city government would shoulder the expenses for the free viewing of the match and residents would be treated on a first come, first served basis.
Nevertheless, those who will not be able to get a ticket for the Pacquiao-Hatton match may still be accommodated depending on the available space in the different venues.
Coordination with the Manila Police District (MPD) has been undertaken to ensure peace and order for the free viewing of the match at the Tondo Sports Complex, the Del Pan Sports Complex, the Rasac Covered Court, the Dapitan Sports Complex, the San Andres Sports Complex and the Teresa covered court.
Other venues may still be opened up to Manila residents as the bout approaches.
