Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, believes his fighter will knock out Ricky Hatton when the pair clash for the IBO junior-welterweight crown at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2.
Speaking at a media workout at his Wild Card Boxing Club on Wednesday the SecondsOut Trainer of the Year said: “Hatton will start quickly and both guys like to fight, so this one is going to be short and sweet,” insisted Roach.
“But I?ve been studying tapes of Ricky and his defence is poor, so we will knock him out.
“Manny has speed, power, boxing ability – so I think he will overwhelm Ricky in this fight.
“Ricky?s a tough guy, no doubt about that. He?s very resilient; he?s tough. He comes to fight.”
Hatton vs Pacquiao remains a genuine super fight between two of the most exciting fighters on the planet and pound for pound king Pacquiao fully understands he must be at his very best come May 2.
“I?m preparing properly for this fight because Ricky Hatton is an aggressive and strong fighter,” said Pacquiao but I believe I am going to win.”
