Can your poems match Mayweather rap to Pacquiao and Roach?

I am indebted to ‘Colt’ for the poem they posted as a comment on my blog yesterday. The poem apes the rhyme of Floyd Mayweather Sr.

It is fantastic.

Floyd’s poems are always fun. They play right into the hands of media men and women. We find it hard not to smile.

I am willing to send a memento from the Hatton v Pacquiao fight (it will be something decent like a programme signed by Hatton/Pacquiao/Roach) to the author of the best poem – in the style of FM Sr – ahead of the Battle of East and West on May 2.

I simply ask to be an arbiter. I will ask one of the fighters, or Freddie Roach to judge it.

Please post your poems in the comment section. And add your email.

Here’s Colt’s offering:

There is Joy in Senior Floyd There is fun in his mold As every mold have gold A plated one in every fold… ‘Cause Hatton will hold, A style need not told…

In the fight night On 2nd May A poet’s face will be in dismay After the 1st round Sr’s fighter will go astray A target open like a field Peppered and battered Lying on the canvas Like a stack of hay For Senior’s pride, It is there to stay,

No matter what, He’s the best trainer On top of a fallen fighter History he can’t alter His piece of work You cant falter

He’ll blame the booze And, too, the wizard of oz What a stir in a coffee A coffee with moose Next in line… He’ll be with his son Together they’ll Show some sound, In fight night, show some snooze

the humble man…Manny… the magnum opus of Freddie… secured in the books… of boxing history… one thing I’ve learnt in life and all the way, there is always a price for every humility

surely, when Money May, doth come back the stars will align… as the whole nation pray, the boxing world watch senior readeth his poetic line lo and behold he cant match as the true King stand the power he cant catch

Colt.
