Current RP super-featherweight champion Aaron Melgarejo made a successful return to the ring yesterday when he stopped his Japanese foe, Masato Maedo, right in the very first round. The fight was held in his opponent's hometown of Okinawa, Japan. This was confirmed by his trainer Dino Olivetti in a telephone coversation with this writer.
With the win, Melgarejo, who fights out of the Olivetti Boxing Stable of Binan, Laguna and previously served as a sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao, hopes to challenge the bigger names in his weight class including a possible crack at the Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) title.
