Ricky Hatton’s army of fans will get the chance to meet their hero – and his next opponent Manny Pacquiao – this weekend.
The Hitman is holding a special rally at midday on Saturday, February 28, to mark the official launch of his blockbusting showdown with the world’s number one pound-for-pounder.
The pair, plus trainers Floyd Mayweather Sr and Freddie Roach will be talking to the press but Hatton will also be on hand to greet his adoring public.
The fans’ rally, at the Trafford Centre, will bring back memories of two years ago when he and Floyd Mayweather took to the Manchester rain in front of thousands ahead of their stellar showdown.
“Everyone knows my fans are the best in the world and this is the perfect chance to Manny what he is up against,” said Hatton.
“I know thousands are going still going to come over to Vegas and cheer me on. And it would be great to see as many as possible down there on Saturday.”
Well, 18 months on and the opponent’s name might have changed, but the scenario is still the same – the Hitman up against the best in the business in Pacquiao.
The Filipino phenomenon has never fought on these shores but has been sparring with Amir Khan and will know all about Hatton and his legendary legion of fans.
But on Saturday he will get the chance to find out first hand…
