Manny Pacquiao made the most out of his dwindling free time yesterday by shooting a few commercials, gracing a hastily-called press conference in relation to the 2010 elections, rubbing elbows with big-time cockfighting buddies several hours before his early-Friday morning flight to England.
Pacquiao didn?t look winded as he enjoyed the company of his friends, most of whom the Filipino boxing star will only get to see in the final days leading to his May 2 super fight with British puncher Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
When Pacquiao departs for London at 6 a.m. today on board a Cathay Pacific jet with a brief layover in Hong Kong, it will mark the preparation for training camp beginning next week in Los Angeles.
Pacquiao will be in London and Manchester this weekend to promote the fight alongside Hatton and as soon as he takes care of his promotional obligations, he will buckle down to work at the Wild Card Boxing Club for the next eight weeks under taskmaster Freddie Roach.
“It?s going to be eight weeks of pain and punishment,” Pacquiao said in Pilipino, obviously anticipating a grueling grind under the watchful eyes of Roach.
