Those who want to wish our very own boxing world champion Bernabe `Abe? Concepcion well in his May 2 fight in the United States may very well attend the send-off party being organized in Manila by DOTC Assistant Secretary Cesar V. Sarmiento this Feb. 20.
Assec. Sarmiento is inviting all Catandunganons from this island as well as in Metro Manila to come to the party at 5 P.M. of said date at the Philippine Navy Golf Club at Fort Bonifacio in Makati City.
He said that some Catandunganons, in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Para?aque East, are the organizers of the event, which they said would inspire Concepcion (28-1, 16 KOs) when he tangles with American Steven Luevano (36-1-1) in the undercard of the much-awaited mega-bout between the world?s best pound-for-pound boxer Manny Pacquiao and British brawler Ricky Hatton.
“This is our opportunity to show our deep appreciation for his feats as a boxer – the only world boxing champion from Catanduanes and give him much-needed moral support and inspiration,” Sarmiento said.
Concepcion agreed to attend the party and suggested that it should be scheduled before March as he plans to fly to the US on the first week of March to start training under Freddie Roach at the famed Wild Card Gym.
