A VICTORY by Manny Pacquiao over Erik Morales in their March 19 showdown in Las Vegas will inspire and motivate the Filipino athletes to dish out a strong performance in the coming Southeast Asian Games.
Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) officer-in-charge William Ramirez issued the statement Thursday, saying the country will no doubt benefit from Pacquiao’s rousing triumph.
Pacquiao fights Morales in a 12-round super featherweight clash Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Leading the Philippine contingent out to give moral support to the Filipino boxer in the gambling capital of the world is no less than First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
“He (Pacquiao) will inspire us all and the excitement of his victory will cascade on the Filipino athletes and inspire them to give their best performance in the SEA Games,” Ramirez said.
“Pacquiao is not only fighting for himself, but he is fighting for the 80 million Filipinos. I want him to win, we all want him to win,” Ramirez added.
The country will host the 2005 SEAG starting in November this year.
