Never in a million years did anyone think it was possible, but in a career defining moment, Shane Mosley shocked the world by not only defeating, but knocking out the typically granite-chinned Antonio Margarito.
Most experts gave Mosley a slight shot (at most) via points victory on the scorecards, but in a stellar fashion, Mosley made it clear that neither a pending divorce or allegations of steroids would ruin his shot at redemption.
For Antonio Margarito, things wouldn’t quite work the same.
Prior to the fight, rumors were rampant about the possibility of Margarito having weight struggles and for those dumbfounded about the results, that consideration is pretty much the only thing that makes sense.
A Lost Mystique?
The loss in the ring was no easy feat, but it was the ‘lost’ before he entered the ring that may sting the longest. HBO’s live telecast team revealed that Antonio Margarito had to have his hands re-wrapped three times in the dressing room due to what was described as a hardening affect of the wrap supporting his hands.
The mere possibility of Margarito having his hands wrapped illegally brings about many questions relative to the power many around the sport saw to be nothing short of dangerous.

Division Up For Grabs
Whatever the case may be, the loss by Antonio Margarito opens things up considerably for the sports deepest division. From Miguel Cotto, to Joshua Clottey, to Luis Collazo, and a host of others, things are wide open. As if that wasn’t enough, with the possible return of Floyd Mayweather jr looming and the emergence of the spectacular Manny Pacquiao, anything can happen.
One loss won’t count Antonio Margarito out, but after such a humbling loss, a nice layoff certainly wouldn’t hurt.
