Sports Network are today announcing the next opponent for Amir Khan and have announced that it will be a ‘massive fight’. BBN understands that the fight will take place at the MEN Arena in Manchester on the 14th of March and the opponent could well be legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera, the Baby Faced Assassin.
Barrera – undoubtedly an all-time great – who effectively ended the career of Prince Naseem Hamed back in April 2001, has had one fight in China since losing to Khan’s new sparring partner Manny Pacquiao at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas in October 2007, but is scheduled to fight at the end of January in Mexico.
The Mexican who turns 35 on Saturday, would be by far the biggest name to appear on the record of the Olympic silver medallist, the three-weight champion has lost only six fights in his 71 fight career which began in 1989, when Khan was just three years old.
