Cover Boy Manny Pacquiao Shows Editorial Fairness Of Boxing Bible, The Ring!

Boxing insiders have been griping for the past six months that only Oscar De La Hoya or fighters promoted by his Golden Boy Promotions can make the cover of Ring magazine.

The Golden Boy is the owner of what used to be called the Bible of Boxing.

That is balderdash, tripe and a complete lie.

As this cover featuring 2008 Fighter Of The Year Manny Pacquiao proves, a fighter who is co-promoted by Golden Boy can achieve this same honor.

No bias, no bull, that?s the editorial credo at The Ring.

I predict Ricky Hatton will soon be a cover boy for the magazine.

Oh, I forgot. He is promoted by Golden Boy.

Well, it can?t be long before Victor Ortiz makes the cover.

You say he is also promoted by the Golden Guys?

They did have Kelly Pavlik on the cover last year. It couldn?t have been just because he was fighting Golden Boy VP in charge of insulting Caucasians, Bernard Hopkins, could it?

To borrow Teddy Brenner?s classic line, if this is the Bible, maybe it?s time for a New Testament.

If The Ring really wanted to show some fairness, they would put Freddie Roach on the cover making the blocked finger trigger gesture.

Or how about a feature on Oscar?s pre-Pacman diet.

DE LA HOYA WARNS ALL FIGHTERS: STEER CLEAR OF KANGAROO MEAT BEFORE YOU FIGHT A HOPPING, POPPING, NEVER STOPPING PINOY!

I could sink my teeth into that article.

Somehow, I doubt they will put De La Hoya nutrition guru Rob Garcia on the cover.

On a Not Wanted poster, maybe, but not the cover. Rumor has it that the Goldens have banished Meathead Garcia to the Outback and I mean to the rugged hinterlands of Australia not to the restaruants where they serve those Blooming Onions.

Also upcoming in Ring: Victor Conte, The Man, The Myth, The Doping Calendars or How I Got Shane Mosley To Pay Me $900 For Vitamins!
