GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — Manny Pacquiao’s 30th birthday celebration here on December 17 will be strictly for adults only, his private secretary said.
Lee Ann Omega said children will not be allowed at the party. “No kids allowed. It’s purely an adult affair,” she said.
Omega said the expected guests include President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Pacquiao’s friends from politics, including Environment Secretary Jose ?Lito? Atienza and Deputy National Security Adviser Luis Singson.
Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach and Top Rank boss Bob Arum will also be arriving, Omega said.
The Pacquiao family has also invited around 20 personalities from show business to provide entertainment during the party at the KCC Convention Center here.
“There will be a concert featuring the visiting showbiz stars. So this will be a very memorable and enjoyable birthday celebration,” Omega said.
The Pacquiao family has prepared at least six roasted cows and 25 roasted pigs.
“The attire will be strictly formal. Either barong Tagalog or coat and tie for males, and cocktail dress or long gown for females,” Omega said.
Paolo Sumlao, event coordinator, said the KCC Convention Center will be turned into a little Las Vegas during the celebration. He did not elaborate.
As this developed, the city government said the grand hero’s welcome it prepared for Pacquiao’s homecoming on Friday has already been set.
“It is the grandest welcome we have ever prepared,” Mayor Pedro Acharon said.
He said the city government has prepared a grand party for Pacquiao’s fans here on Friday evening.
“The victory party will be held right at the oval plaza to enable the fans to attend and catch a close glimpse of the boxing icon,” Acharon said.
A fireworks display will cap the victory celebration, he added.
