AFTER Oscar De La Hoya of Mexico, Ricky Hatton of England could be Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent.
A dream match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is also possible.
The name of Hatton cropped up after Pacquiao annihilated De La Hoya in a lopsided eight-round TKO decision Sunday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
It was a masterful victory for the 29-year-old Pacquiao, who landed an avalanche of telling blows from the opening bell up to the end when De La Hoys declined to come out of his corner for the ninth round.
Top Rank’s Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, said a fight with Hatton could be next for his boxer. Hatton had also made it clear he wants to fight Pacquiao.
Mayweather Jr. officially retired after beating Hatton but could be lured out of retirement for a blockbuster fight with Pacquiao.
Arum, however, said these are just plans at the moment and that he would like Pacquiao to spend Christmas with his family at the moment first without having the boxer to worry who his next opponent is. (CRAM)
