ASIDE from “Manila Ice”, Manny Pacquiao has one big weapon with him the moment he goes to battle against Erik Morales: Mindanao allies.
In a show of support to a Mindanao son going up in the biggest fight of his life, General Santos City Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. and other Mindanao officials and sports leaders will be at ringside on March 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aside from Acharon, North Cotabato Governor Manny Pi?ol and probably Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte, are arranging a flight to the gambling capital of the world to witness the bout.
Acharon’s delegation include lawyer Franklin Gacal Jr., city sports consultant Clement Asencio and his wife Yvonne, and Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines-GSC president Rey Golingan.
Acharon and Pi?ol, also a known boxing promoter in Mindanao, formed part of a long list of Filipinos who will cheer for the General Santos City native Pacquiao in the 12-round super featherweight clash.
The Philippine delegation will be led by First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.
The guest list for the big sporting event also includes Senator Lito Lapid, Games and Amusements Board chairman Eric Buhain, Governors Chavit Singson and Lito Y?ares of Ilocos and Rizal, respectively, former Philippine Basketball Association commissioner Rudy Salud and movie stars Robin Padilla and Cesar Montano.
Pacquiao, whose handlers have designed a weapon called “Manila Ice” to stop Morales cold, is also bringing in former manager Polding Correa and former world champ Lusito Espinosa at ringside during the bout.
