LAS VEGAS ? Michael Buffer is ?ready to rumble.?
After presiding over Friday?s official weigh-in, the flamboyant ring announcer who has worked some of the biggest fights over the last 25 years talked about his next assignment: Pacquiao vs Dela Hoya.
Buffer, who said he likes Pacquiao as much as he likes Dela Hoya, said he expects a ?fantastic fight? between two of the most sought after superstars in boxing today.
?It?s a fight between the pound-for-pound champion and boxing?s biggest superstar in the last 10 years that?s why they call it a dream match,? said Buffer, who came to Manila when Pacquiao fought Oscar Larios in 2006.
He thinks it?s fair enough to say that the fight will last the distance.
?I think this fight goes 12 rounds and whoever is stronger in the last four rounds will pull it out. That?s my opinion. I love both fighters and I just don?t want anybody to get hurt,? he hoped.
The stakes are high for both fighters, too.
?For Oscar a victory means his legacy is extended late in his career. And for Pacquiao it continues his endorsement as the best fighter in the world. So it?s a big fight for either fighter.
?People think that if Pacquiao loses it?s no big deal because he moved up in weight but I don?t think at all. I know he doesn?t think that he?s here to win, you can tell by the effort he put in ? he?s not taking this fight lightly,? said the man in tuxedo.
