De La Hoya -Pacquiao staff picks

Marc Abrams When the bout was first announced, I liked Pacquiao. But after much thing and talking to some ?Insiders? I think that size does matter (despit what people may say) and I cant get over Pacquiao gettin drilled out as a flyweight some years ago. i know Pacquiao blamed weight issues but whats going to happen when a big man like oscar hits Manny with a big shot. My guess is that the Pac Man will get eaten up?Oscar TKO 10 Michael Swann So, in case anyone has any doubts of where I?m going with this ?I?m expecting Oscar to definitively stop Manny before the end of round five. If Oscar loses this one or fails to starch Pacquiao early he should go into hiding. Take the 2-1? it?s a lock. Norm Frauenheim Oscar De La Hoya, 7th round TKO. This is a tough pick.. I?m tempted to go with Manny Pacquiao. If he can get rein in his aggressiveness and take the fight into the eight round, he can beat a tiring De La Hoya. But Pacquiao instincts are to go forward. He will run into a big left hand. Bart Barry My pick is based on something I learned at the Margarito-Cotto fight: Pick with your heart, not your head. My head tells me Oscar is too big, that Beristain will have him spinning Pacquaio with left hooks to the lead shoulder all night, that Oscar will win an easy points victory then tell us how meaningful it is. But my heart says Pacman! I?ll take Pacquaio: TKO-10. Johnny Schulz Oscar out punches Pacman in a big-brother-beats-up-little-brother-type battle. Oscar holds nothing back in punishing the much smaller Pacquiao and stops him in 11. Oscar, it?s your turn to step up? Calzaghe are you available? Now that is a SUPERFIGHT the fans would love to see! Ricky McKenzie I?m going with Pac Man?a lot of pressure leaves him vulnerable to the left hook among other punches and ODLH in his prime would have capitalized?not the ?08 version. Manny by dec. Matt Yanofsky I?m going with De La Hoya by late stoppage. Manny may fight too brave for his own good and get caught with De La Hoya?s legendary left hook. I also think the fact that Oscar is cutting from 154 to 147 while Pac is moving up from 135 to 147 will have a HUGE factor on fight night. Unless Oscar can?t pull the trigger and gets badly outboxed by Pacquiao, expect a De La Hoya KO in a fight that has no significance to the sport other than the money in the fighters? and promoters? pockets. Mario Ortega Jr. De La Hoya UD12 Pacquiao With all due respect to Freddie Roach, I just don?t see it. I am going with conventional wisdom. A good big man beats a good small man. I think Oscar De La Hoya is too big to lose to Manny Pacquiao. I don?t see De La Hoya taking away his heart however, and I think Pacquiao will last to the end. Anson Wainwright In the last few years we?ve had Jones-Ruiz & Oscar-Mayweather where the smaller man has won, will it happen again? I don?t believe so. Oscar will be to big to strong and hit to hard for Pacquiao. I think as the smaller man Pacquiao needs to be cute and give Oscar multiple angles that?s not Pacquiao?s way he?s always ultra aggressive. Although they?ve worked on staying away from the left hook can he do it all night? I think Oscar catches Manny in the sixth and Pacquiao goes down gets up but is on unsteady feet and is saved by the referee. Thomas Marriott De La Hoya by KO in the 6th- I am rooting for Manny, but I think Oscar will just be to big. I find it hard to believe that at some point Oscar won?t hit Manny flush. Manny isn?t the defensive wizard that Mayweather is and even he got hit. Manny might start off well, but he has no room for error in the fight. Manny has to fight a near perfect contest to win a UD, while Oscar can afford to make mistakes because one punch can win it for him. Joon Lee Oscar via early KO To be honest, I?m more enthused about the ring entrance from both fighters and the electricity amongst the crowd more so than the action or the lack there of which will take place once the bell rings. Here?s question, who would win between Wladimir Klitschko and Joe Calzaghe? Exactly. Oscar wouldn?t have made this fight knowing that little Pac-Man actually stands a chance of winning. One powerful jab and a left hook should seal the deal early for the Golden Boy.
