Leprechaun Roach: I Salute Oscar De La Hoya Statue, I Bet Pigeons Will Also!

Leprechaun-boxing trainer Freddie Roach is hitting Oscar De La Hoya with body shots even though he?s in Las Vegas with charge Manny Pacquiao and the Golden Boy is in LA.

Oscar will receive a great honor Monday when hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky and hoops legend Magic Johnson stand by his side as his 14 foot bronze statute is formally dedicated outside the Staples Center. De La Hoya?s statue joins those already there for #99 and the Lakers legend.

?I will have a couple of my Boston Irish Mafia crew looking on,? Roach said. ?They will be cleverly disguised. I?ve given my guys stopwatches so they can time Oscar and the statue for comparison’s sake.

?It?s just ordinary recon for the Pacman camp. I?ve already said Oscar, nearing age 36, moves like his boxing shoes are stuck in quicksand. His left jab is so slow you can time it with a sundial and he?s got an achy-breaky left shoulder.

?It?s nice to see Oscar get a statute so close to the GBP offices. He can walk by and admire himself every afternoon. But I dare say the pigeons can?t wait to add their tribute to his tribute.I just hope the pigeons don’t do to Oscar what Manny’s going to do to him Saturday night. Father Time is working Pacman’s corner, he’s unavoidable and Manny doesn’t have to pay him. No one beats Father Time and Oscar is no exception.

?The sad thing is, and we all saw it in the Stevie Forbes fight, is that the pigeons move a lot faster than Old Boy Oscar does now.?

The impish one has spoken.
