The Pac-Man had plenty to say during today’s conference call with the media about Oscar, Ricky Hatton and what motivates him for this fight.
Earlier today, 411mania.com was involved in a conference call with pound for pound king and WBC lightweight titlist Manny Pacquiao as he took some time off from his training in Hollywood to talk to the media. During the call, Manny proclaimed that this has been the toughest training camp of his career. He explained that although there wasn’t a huge change in their training methods, his camp has added various new exercises that help him build muscle. Though the build up to the fight is immense, Manny isn’t letting the pressure get to him. “The pressure is there but that gives me more motivation to train hard for the fight,” explained Pacquiao.
The Pac-Man said he feels he’ll be able to handle Oscar’s power as he’s sparred with guys at junior middleweight and middleweight.
Regarding the back and forth exchanges between Roach and Oscar, Manny has decided to stay out of it and says it’s between him. He says that he’s never blamed his trainer for a loss. “This is nothing personal for me, I’m just doing my job in the ring,” said Pacquiao.
Manny mentioned that he watched the Hatton-Malignaggi fight and offered some words about a potential showdown with “The Hitman”. “That’s a good fight (against Hatton). I’m willing to fight Hatton but right now I’m just focused on my December fight. I don’t want to think about something else that could affect my concentration.”
In regards to weight, Manny says he’ll drop down to 140 pounds after this fight making a fight with Hatton even more likely.
Bob Arum briefly spoke about being in Dubai recently and revealed that the hype for the fight has been all over the local newspapers.
Manny also talked about giving money to those in need and about the responsibility he feels he has to help his countrymen.
The Pac-Man also revealed that his wife is due to give birth some time in January. That has given him inspiration and he’s happy that she’ been there beside him. The baby will be a girl and she’ll be the fourth child. She won’t be ringside but rather in the hotel watching the fight.
