President Arroyo lauded Manny Pacquiao on Sunday for his resounding victory over international featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Pacquiao, the reigning International Boxing Federation junior featherweight champion who moved up a division to fight the Mexican, scored a surprising but totally convincing victory in the 11th round of the scheduled 12-rounder.
“He?s been giving us a lot of honors, that?s why we are so proud of him,” Arroyo said after the telecast of the fight. She said she will call Pacquiao to personally congratulate him.
The President said she is happy whenever Pacquiao comes home after his victories because he shares his winning with the less fortunate.
