Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera suffered a shock defeat when beaten into submission by Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines in San Antonio, Texas.
Pacquiao, a former IBF and WBO super-bantamweight champion, was just too fast and too accurate in only his second bout at featherweight.
The 24-year-old recovered from touching down in the opening round to floor his opponent twice before Barrera?s corner threw in the towel in the closing seconds of round 11.
It was only Barrera?s fourth defeat in an illustrious 62-fight career which has seen him feature in some of the greatest bouts of recent times, including two thrillers with Erik Morales and and a convincing points win over Naseem Hamed.
