WHAT’S the secret behind the ‘Manila Ice” war plan, which Manny Pacquiao is going to unleash on March 19 against Erik Morales? It’s definitely not just a left hand or a right hook, but a combination of both, perhaps. A two-fisted assault right from the opening bell.
Or, it could even be just one power shot coming from the Pacman.
No one really knows what this strategy is all about, except for Pacquiao, his American trainer Freddie Roach and the rest of the Team Pacquiao.
But one thing is sure. The game plan was designed by Roach to stop Morales cold, and he was open about this while the Filipino boxer was preparing himself for the super featherweight bout, which will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao, according to Roach, “will attack from the opening bell with the kind of firepower Morales has never seen before.”
Morales, however, merely shrugged this off, saying Pacquiao also has defects and is vulnerable despite possessing tremendous speed and power.
The three-time world boxing champion said he can take out Pacquiao with an intelligent fight, which he intends to execute come March 19.
“I am going to deliver the heart, and I am going to show that still there is Morales for a while,” said Morales, who lost his super feather crown to Marco Antonio Barrera last November.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao is reportedly looking sharp in his final phase of training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
“Pacquiao looked explosive in his workout, but you won’t be seeing it on the evening news. All cameras were required to be turned off while Pacquiao sparred with Jose Armando Santa Cruz,” reported Figtnews.com after Pacquiao worked out during his media day Tuesday.
Pacquiao’s last day of training will be on Monday. After that, he and his entourage will drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Morales will hit Las Vegas a day later onboard a jet.
