Rey Bautista hard at work at Las Vegas?s Mayweather gym

FightFan.com’s Ace Freeman spent an afternoon with rising super bantamweight star Rey ‘Boom Boom’ Bautista at the Mayweather gym in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Top super bantamweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista is hard at work in Las Vegas, Nevada for his Nov. 22 ring return scheduled for the undercard of the Ricky Hatton vs. Paul Malignaggi bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Bautista and the ?Ala? camp arrived in Las Vegas a week ago and have been training at Floyd Mayweather?s gym alongside Roger Mayweather?s stable of fighters. Under the watchful guidance of Ala trainer Edito Villamor, Bautista has been engaging in vigorous workouts and heated sparring sessions with some of the seasoned professionals in the Mayweather fold. After sitting in on his training on two seperate occasions I had the pleasure of witnessing what appears to be a new sense of hunger and determination in the young Filipino fighter.

?I feel good. Training is going well.? Bautista said with sweat dripping down his forehead. In the ring, Rey is looking as sharp as ever. In sparring he is showing superb head movement which has been an area of focus for Bautista in the last year. Rey?s stalking offensive attack looks to be complimented well by additional attention to defense. He looked sensational in attacking sparring mates while quickly reverting to a defensive posture in time to block any return fire. Rey?s handlers seem to feel his defense is improving, and that will result in a much more well rounded fighter.
