For a while now boxing?s lower weights have driven the sport?especially in the 126 to 140 pound area. But, this year a lot of attention has been focused on the 168 to 175 pound area.
Kelly Pavlik had a high profile fight at 168, a win over Jermain Taylor, and then at a catch weight of 170 a match that was a disaster for him, the shockingly one-sided loss to Bernard Hopkins. The other major middleweight champ, Arthur Abraham moved up to 168 for a shootout with Edison Miranda who he starched for a big win.
At 175 the light heavyweights have produced two big fights?the first an exciting match between young champion Chad Dawson and veteran former champ Glenn Johnson. It was a dazzler, with Dawson winning a close decision. Then Dawson took on Johnson?s rival, Antonio Tarver with two titles on the line. Dawson was brilliant in winning a decision against the nearly 40 year old Tarver.

The November 20 fight card will feature WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight Champion BOBBY ?THE SNIPER? PACQUIAO (29-14-3, 14 KOs) of the The Philippines. BOBBY PACQUIAO is the younger brother of Manny Pacquiao, reigning WBC Lightweight Champion and champion in four different weight divisions, who is set to fight Oscar De La Hoya on December 6.
The semi-main event showcases Daly City?s undefeated knock out artist, Light Middleweight KARIM ?HARD HITTA? MAYFIELD (6-0-1, 5 KOs). The ?You Be The Judge? field includes undefeated Chika Nakamura (7-0), San Francisco?s Jason Peterson, Salinas? Eric Garcia and San Mateo?s Melissa McCorrow and Yohan Banks.

American Metal & Iron Fight Night at the Tank is proud to announce that AL BERNSTEIN will be in attendance at the November 20 boxing event. Bernstein, the author of this e-newsletter, will be onsite on the night of the fights to address season ticket holders and be ringside during the bouts.
Over the course of his distinguished career, Al has served many roles in the field of boxing. Bernstein wrote for Ring Magazine and Boxing Illustrated, was a boxing analyst for NBC?s coverage of the Summer Olympic Games in 1992 and 1996 and from 1999-2002 was a sports anchor for Fox 5 News in Las Vegas. Bernstein currently serves as a boxing analyst for Showtime and for 20 years was the boxing voice of ESPN.
