Oscar De La Hoya has shut himself away from everyday life to focus on Manny Pacquiao.
The ‘Golden Boy’ meets the current P4P king in an eagerly-awaited welterweight showdown in Las Vegas on December 6.
And he’s gone back to basics by preparing for the bout they’re calling “The Dream Match” in freezing Big Bear, California for the first time in years.
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, told The Manila Bulletin: “(His training camp is) totally isolated.
“It is a closed camp which shows you how serious Oscar takes this fight.”
Schaefer also confirmed that another southpaw in exciting light-welterweight prospect ‘Vicious’ Victor Ortiz is on hand to help De La Hoya prepare for the Pacman.
“Ortiz is right up there with Oscar,” said Schaefer.
De La Hoya will have a new trainer for the big December showdown, with Nacho Beristain in his corner for the first time.
Beristain of course is the trainer of Juan Manuel Marquez, who fought two thrilling bouts with Pacquiao.
