Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has told setantasports.com that Oscar De La Hoya will brutally knock out Manny Pacquiao on December 6 and says fighting Ricky Hatton at Wembley Stadium afterwards would be a dream.
De La Hoya will meet WBC lightweight champion in a welterweight contest at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas that has already recouped $17 million in ticket sales
The Golden Boy goes into the bout as a favourite with the bookmakers and his promotional company’s chief executive expects his superior size to be the big difference between the two men.
De La Hoya previously stated that 2008 would be his last year in boxing but has since reneged on this declaration and Schaefer expects him to have two more fights – and hopes one of them is in England.
“Oscar’s going to see how he feels after this fight,” Schaefer told setantasports.com. “Assuming everything goes well and he feels good then I think he is going to have maybe one or two fights.
“I actually think he will knock him out in a rather brutal fashion.
“Assuming that happens and assuming that Ricky Hatton beats Paulie Malignaggi, which will be no easy fight, then I think a Hatton-De La Hoya showdown is still a very real possibility and I have already had some conversations with Ray Hatton about that match.
“Wembley Stadium would be the dream location.”
