Maybe certain politicians need to take a look at Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. Aside from Coach Roach?s itchy trigger finger on his cheap toy gun, the press tour for the Dec. 6 bout was all sweetness and light.
No negative campaigning, no below the belt personal shots.
I did think it was kind of odd for Oscar to admonish the Pinoy idol to ?remember the Alamo? after their stop at that historic San Antonio site. As a Mexican-American you would think Oscar would know that the Americans were outnumbered and crushed by General Santa Ana?s troops. Oh, well, Oscar never claimed to be a history major and he might think of Santa Ana as just a city and a freeway in Socal.
But the Hype Train is back in the station and here?s the photo that gives Pacman?s worldwide followers a real comfort level. Manny is back in the laboratory and pounding away at Roach?s pads.
If I make one campaign promise, this is it. Our presidential election campaign ?coverage? is winding down and our Oscar-Manny coverage will start heating up. You may be sure Boxingconfidential is going to cover this event as what it is, which is this year?s Super Bowl of Boxing.
As always, we want YOUR participation. If you say Oscar will win, fine. If you?ve got Manny rolling to victory, fine. Hammer out four or five scintillating paragraphs and send to them to me. The best efforts will be posted on Boxingconfidential.com and the best of the best will win some swell prizes.
Your heading should be either ?Why Manny Will Win? or ?Why Oscar Will Win.?
Let?s Get It On!
