AFTER clearing things about the belt-grabbing incident that took place last month in Indonesia, Indonesian boxing promoter Temuzin Rambing demands an apology to the allegations brought up by boxing trainer Juanito Ablaca.
Ablaca allegedly accused Rambing of forcefully taking the Interim World Boxing Organization Oriental bantamweight title from them, after his boxer Jonathan Baat decked the erstwhile undefeated Indonesian fighter Richard Samosir in the sixth round of their clash in Trans 7 Studio in Indonesia.
Contract
Rambing cleared that he asked Baat?s camp to leave the belt in Indonesia so that Baat can complete two options, which was written in the contract that they had agreed upon, before he could take the belt with him.
?I explained to Mr. Panoncillo that I do not intend to keep the belt forever. I kept the belt to make sure they would accomplish two options based on contract that we had, and to defend his title in Indonesia. After he (Ba?at) has finished 2 (two) options and won, I will present it to them,? wrote Rambing via e-mail to Sun.Star Cebu.
But after sending the belt to the Philippines last Aug. 28 via TNT Express out of respect to the WBO and the Philippine boxing community, Rambing demanded an apology from Ablaca after reading a report at Philboxing.com, that Ablaca complained the belt that they sent was an old one.
?I have been patient before because of our big respect to WBO and the Philippine boxing community. But after all of our good effort, they do not appreciate us. So, I can not accept their attitude. In this occasion, I want them to apologize for their attitudes via the press and clarify to the boxing community about this case,? said Rambing.
?If they worry about the new WBO belt originality, they can send the belt to WBO, and let the WBO check the originality of the belt,? he added.
Unacceptable
Rambing also added that what Ablaca said about him and his promotions was unacceptable.
?But the most important thing is, Mr. Ablaca?s attitude that he keeps talking bad about me and our promotion, although I have done my best sincerely, he was still talking bad, that one I can?t accept, and they have to send an apology and a clear explanation about this via Philippine media,? he said.
Meanwhile, Ablaca believes that the issue is already dead and he has nothing against Rambing and wants to continue his friendship and support for the promoter.
?We have solved the problem and I have no grudges against him. I have no comment to what he sent via e-mail,? Ablaca told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday in an interview.
