I can?t remember the last time I ate so much goddamn barbecue (?grilling? if you want to be politically correct) in such a few short days. While I enjoy the festivities surrounding cooking chunks of flesh over an open flame, my intestinal region can only take so much.
Porky Pig Ribs
Happy Hamburgers
Hot Damn Hot Dogs
Savory Salmon
Chuckling Chicken
Rotund Rat Tail
Comical Kangaroo Tripe
Etc.
This isn?t to mention the massive quantities of alcohol that accompany the charbroiled chicken feet?
In any case, boxing has taken a back seat in recent times as there hasn?t been too much in terms of big-time squabbles.
Here are some of the amusing transpirations made within the boxing world in recent times:
Manny Pacquiao will be fighting Oscar De la Hoya on December 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Marco Antonio Barrera has apparently signed a 5-year contract to fight for Don King.
Antonio Margarito continues to abuse the ?Golden Boy? with his verbal antics.
Ricardo ?RiGordo? Lois is still with BoxingConfidential as will always be the case.
Nicolai Valuev seemingly defeated John Ruiz in a heavyweight ?title? bout that I didn?t watch, nor will I ever.
Bernard Hopkins has treated Kelly Pavlik and his team with a lot of respect in the recent media tour for their October 18 fight.
Sergio Mora and Vernon Forrest are fighting on the undercard of Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Joel Casamayor? but does anybody care?
Now I will proceed to comment on each of these occurrences?
Pacquiao-De la Hoya is a fight that isn?t so much about boxing. It?s a fight that can change a nation. Not Mexico, not the United States, but rather the Philippines.
There are about 4 million Filipinos residing here in America which equates to about 1.5 percent of the total population here in this great country. There are pockets of heavy general concentration amongst the islanders in places such as the SF Bay Area and Los Angeles while the rest of the country scratches their head asking? what?s a Filipino?
This is a fight that will create a huge amount of awareness for the country of the Philippines as well as the Filipino people in general. With the solid press tour and 24/7 countdown shows for the December 6 fight, it will expose the ?Pacman?s? culture to many people that might not normally know of the nuances of his people.
Hundreds if not thousands of negative articles have been written in regards to Pacquiao-De la Hoya as the negotiations transpired. After having put much thought into the bout in recent times, I feel as though it is a very solid match-up that could have been worse. We could have been forced fed Mayweather-De la Hoya II.
Remember?
The rematch that nobody wanted to see?
You can only cry so much in this day and age so I am going on record as stating that Pacquiao-De la Hoya is a much more intriguing match-up in terms of personalities and stories than Mayweather-De la Hoya II. I cringe at the thoughts of seeing yet another 24/7 countdown show involving junior.
I mean, be honest. More 50 Cent? more counting cash? more vulgarities? more repetitive garbage?
No thanks.
I?d much prefer to see Manny Pacquiao talking about his favorite fighting cocks and how he loves the taste of stewed, fried, boiled, and baked pig?s blood. He might even eat a live catfish on camera during the 24/7 show. Perhaps he?ll show us how he used to wipe his ass without any toilet paper using merely his paws.
Now, that my friends? makes for interesting television.

Marco Antonio Barrera signing a five year deal with Don King has to be one of the most hysterical ?career? blunders err? decisions of recent times within the sport of boxing. For all of you young aspiring promoters within boxing, it?s time to take note as to the finicky antics of fighters and their team.
While Golden Boy Promotions has taken heavy criticism over the past several years as it pertains to putting together lackluster match-ups, the one area in which they have always seemingly been untouchable is their fighter compensations. If anything, many feel as though GBP tends to spoil their guys with lavish treatment and honest paydays.
I hope for those of you that feel as though Barrera has always been the ?good guy? or ?baby face? in terms of his rivalry with Erik Morales will take note. ?The Baby Face Assassin? has always played for the camera and has given off the impression that he is indeed a gentleman and solid human being.
Let?s just say that the facts speak for themselves?
If I was GBP, I?d send a bouquet of roses and a dozen thank you cards to Don King as he now can take care of Mr. Disgruntled Employee.

The ?Tijuana Tornado? has left the jab in the basement and has swung wildly and with abandon in his verbal tirades against Oscar De la Hoya in recent times. He?s hit the ?Golden Boy? both high and low as he?s brought up past promises made, women?s clothing, the always popular? ?I?m more Mexican? conflict as well as a myriad of issues that Mexico?s current favorite son has on his mind.
I find it relatively amusing as it?s apparent that Antonio is well schooled in terms of breaking down an argument and presenting his own case. Unfortunately for him, it didn?t pan out in terms of a super fight with arch nemesis and he must jump back into the fire to take on the likes of Joshua Clottey and hopefully Paul ?The Punisher? Williams.

My colleague ?RiGordo? Lois was apparently disgruntled at the fact that resident garbage eater, Michael ?What Money?? Marley doesn?t understand the meaning of the word? ?consolidation?.
Instead of combining articles that pertain to the same subject and transforming them into one coherent form of communication, the old, senile, donkey driver enjoys making it rain with nonsensical nonsense. Luckily for BoxingConfidential, Mr. Lois just cannot get enough of shitting on subjects he deems as ?shit worth? in boxing. We?re glad to have you back ?RiGordo?, you?re retirement was even more short lived than Mr. Left Hook?s.

Nicolai Valuev and John Ruiz are both heavyweight contenders. It?s embarrassing and no I didn?t watch either their first bout or the rematch. Is it my fault as a boxing fan for not finding them aesthetically pleasing in any manner?
It?s a non-event that either of them won. If I had it my way, both guys would be banned from boxing altogether? nobody would miss them.
Trust me.

What?s going on with ?The Executioner? these days?
With the financial crisis hitting our nation?s banks, the Niagra Falls-like plunge of the real estate market, and the overall downturn in our economy, now is not the time to play it nice. It?s time to get down and dirty like Marley?s apartment in order to sell this Pay-Per-View fight.
The public has a hard time understanding how two men can remain cordial leading up to a fight. The people have always loved grudge matches which is the one and only reason that Ricardo Mayorga is still considered a fixture in boxing.
What?
You thought it was his James Toneyesque ability to slip and duck punches?
You thought it was his picture perfect combination punching?
Don?t be stupid. Mayorga knows how to ?sell? a fight old-school style and Hopkins should proceed to do so as well. Now just ain?t the time to play Mr. Nice Guy.

I know that their first bout wasn?t all that bad. Mora-Forrest I was a fight that showcased a younger, hungry opponent out-gutting and out working the veteran from the ATL. Unfortunately their rematch will be taking place on the undercard of a fight considered passable by many boxing fans considering the fact that it?s taking place on Pay-Per-View.
I?m sorry, for some reason I just don?t care about the fight or the main event all that much. Way too many veterans involved which emphasizes the need for some new blood within boxing.
Some new blood to be showcased as main events and not relegated to fighting on untelevised Pay-Per-View undercards in front of 24 spectators in a 17,000 seat arena.
Do you catch my drift?
I?ve been a long-time 49ers fan but I sure as hell would cringe to see Steve Young or Joe Montana competing today. In fact, there?s no way that they could being that the athletes have only gotten better over the years which is something that I can?t echo within the sweet science.
Anyhow? that?s the rant for Tuesday. I?m sweating burnt charcoal, grilled catfish whiskers, and virtually every type of alcohol known to man.
Somebody? anybody? please help!
PS. Diaz-Katsidis this weekend brings one guarantee. It will be bloody.
