Domingo stakes WBO title vs. Thai next month

WORLD Boxing Organization Oriental bantamweight champion Michael Domingo (36-14-2, 15 KO?s) will have his hands busy as he defends his newly won title against former WBO bantamweight king Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (73-10, 49 KO?s) on Sept. 14 at the Cebu Coliseum.

The fight will be dubbed ?Daytime Boxing: Philippines vs. Thailand.?

The ALA Boy Domingo won his Oriental crown last July 26 in a stunning second round KO against Indonesia?s Rivo Rengkung, while the veteran Thai came from a victory against Alex BS last July 11, via a second round TKO.

Also seeing action in that bout is Joel De La Cruz (2-4, 1 KO) of Zamboanga, who will be trading leathers with former World Boxing Association super bantamweight titleholder Somsak Kokietgym (57-3-1, 44 KO?s), who was formerly known as Somsak Sithchatchawal.

A women?s boxing match will be featured in the event with the eight round fight between Usa Nakorn of Thailand and Geneive Tabastabas of the Philippines.

The 18-year old fighter ?Marvelous? Marvin Sonsona (5-0, 4 KO?s), up and rising pugilist Rey Labao (15-1, 11 KO?s) and undefeated boxer Jhonriel Casimiro (4-0, 2 KO?s) are also set to battle in the under card against still-to-be-announced opponents.

This fight card is a joint venture of SGG Promotions and Kokiet Group of Thailand.

True to its title, the fight will be held in the morning starting 9 a.m. and will be viewed live all over the Philippines and the neighboring Asian countries of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Korea.

SGG Promotions promoter Sammy Gello-ani told Sun.Star Cebu that this is only one of a string of boxing events which SGG promotions will promote on a morning schedule.

?We will also be having a morning boxing show on Nov. 23 and in January for our first boxing event for the year 2009.?
