SAN ANTONIO – Going by the nicknames, Saturday night’s featherweight faceoff at the Alamodome should nothing less than a toe-to-toe slugfest.
The favorite, Marco Antonio Barrera, is the “Baby-Faced Assassin” and he has a metal plate in his head. His opponent is Manny Pacquiao, a.k.a. “The Destroyer.” Even the non-title fight itself has a last-man-standing moniker: “Clash of the Titans”.
Barrera (57-3, 40 KOs), from Mexico City, is considered the best fighter in the 126-pound class, while the hard-punching Pacquiao (37-2-1, 29 KOs), from the Philippines, is the IBF champion at 122 pounds.
