Gross mismatch. Many people are thinking that about the smallish Manny Pacquiao fighting Oscar de la Hoya.
But world champion Paul Williams has become the first top level fighter to say so. ?The Punisher? made the statement while talking to Boxingconfidential Radio co-hosts Ricardo Lois and John Chavez Monday night.
?Oscar will stop Manny within three rounds,? Williams said. ?I don?t want to take anything away from Pacquiao but his punches won?t hurt de la Hoya. Manny is just too small and Oscar is just too big. The size difference is important and it makes the difference.?
Williams stopped just short of saying this Mutt?n?Jeff match is totally absurd.
Or did he say it straight out?
?The size and weight difference makes it a bad fight,? Williams said. ?I mean, that?s why boxing does not have one division. That?s why we have the different weight classes.?
